Junior Business / Data Analyst New York, NY

The primary function of the Junior Business / Data Analyst is to manage a web-based data mining tool that gathers relevant information from employment web sites and feeds it into our company?s online service. Our company seeks to hire a creative and technical self-starter who should be able to perform a variety of complex tasks, think on their feet, and pick up new ideas, concepts, and skills quickly. The ideal candidate will both possess a junior-level analyst background and a strong familiarity with the Internet as well as be comfortable either using Regular Expressions, XML and XPATH or quickly learning how to do so.

JOB FUNCTION:

- Oversee, monitor and troubleshoot data mining activities
- Identify new sources to mine relevant data based on business objectives
- Manage and create data mining ?agents.?

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- At least 1-2 years experience utilizing HTML
- At least 1-2 years experience utilizing Javascript
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology field

NICE TO HAVES:

- Experience creating Regular Expressions (PHP, Java, C#, etc.)
- Experience with scripting languages (PERL, Python, etc.)
- Experience using commonly-used, generic API?s
- Experience utilizing XML and XPATHS
- Experience working with Oracle and/or SQL Server databases
- Expertise utilizing web-based data mining tools
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures with web based data mining tools.
- Knowledge of employment websites (Monster.com, HotJobs, CareerBuilder, etc.).
