Job Description and Background Info:
Corporate Procurement provides a sustainable, competitive advantage to us by:
1) effectively and efficiently matches internal needs with external capabilities
2) capitalizes on our consolidated purchasing power
3) maximizes shareholder value/return, and
4) appropriately manages supply risk
Our job is to bring procurement resources, tools, methodologies and judgment to business units to "get the right deal with the right supplier". This involves leading major sourcing and outsourcing initiatives using a robust process so that the company captures appropriate value for the company and meets acceptable corporate risk-profiles. We also manage transaction-related communications, negotiations, and contract development with third party suppliers in conjunction with and on the behalf of internal customers and the Legal Department.
The Corporate Procurement team works with parts of our (e.g. IT security functions, Corporate Security, the business "owner" of the transaction) to evaluate prospective supplier capabilities and manage risk. We also work closely with other parts of the company that manage on-going supplier relationships, supplier reporting, supplier performance management, customer demand management, category strategy, and internal policy development.
As part of our mission we have an internal consulting team. We are looking or a contractor to join the team for 6 months to provide surge capacity. Acting in a consulting fashion, s/he will partner with business leaders to develop strategies for specific categories of external spend and then help turn those strategies into reality.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead several categories at one time. This entails:
Understanding the role the extended enterprise plays in our business strategy
Translating strategy into the business service requirements on multiple dimensions (e.g., quality, service level, customer experience, and cost)
Assessing demand patterns and sources of complexity enterprise-wide and making improvement recommendations (e.g., employ substitutes, rationalize complexity, or conform variable specifications)
Analyzing supplier market structure, competition, and performance for opportunities and key leverage points
Creating of sourcing strategies and business cases that allow us to optimize use of our extended enterprise
Applying the sourcing strategy to align our supply base with business goals and generating quantifiable results
Partnering with others to ensure that value flows to the bottom-line and that the appropriate controls are put in place to monitor progress
Reviewing results with senior business partners
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in any quantitative field such as Engineering, Math, Finance
3+ years of experience with a major consulting firm leading supply chain / strategic sourcing engagements
3+ years of experience in Analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
1 year experience in project management
1 year experience leading and managing teams
Ability to influence through effective communications
